Maddie Enjoys Her Reward...

Way back in September of 2009, we promised Madison a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's place when she became fully potty trained. She finally accomplished this during the month of December. On January 20, 2010, Madison received her reward...MiMi happened to have a doctor's appointment that same day...
When we arrived at Chuck E. Cheese's place, the band was in full swing! In fact, we were the first visitors of the day! We told the hostess that we were celebrating "Madison's Success".

We had our choice of seats in the restaurant. For most of the time, we were the only ones there. This was as close to the singing characters as Madison would get... The "real" Chuck E. Cheese actually came out and was going to greet Madison--until he saw her start to cry. He quickly disappeared after that, and we never saw him again.

We ordered a pizza and sat down to eat. Madison didn't eat a single bite--she was too busy watching the show...I must say, I didn't care much for their pizza either, but I did enjoy the show!

Madison really enjoyed calling up Chuck E. Cheese on the telephone and having him talk with her. She called him three times! It kind of makes you wonder what he was telling her...

Madison refused to ride either of the kiddie rides, instead, she preferred to play the games for older children. Unfortunately, her favorite ride, Clifford the Big Red Dog, wasn't there any more.
This horse turned out to be Madison's favorite activity at Chuck E. Cheese's. She rode it three times in a row! The game is called The Kentucky Derby, and the life-sized horse simulates the movements of a real horse.
I believe that Madison enjoyed her "reward". She didn't seem ready to leave when it was time to go. She chose a necklace for her prize, and I bought her a Chuck E. Cheese t-shirt to remind her of our fun visit.

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes...

I love to listen to Madison talk. She says the funniest things. I'll hear her say something and think to myslef--I'll have to remember to write that down, then I forget about it.

Madison is still stuck on singing Christmas carols. Not a day goes by that she doesn't sing them. Usually it's when I am trying to have a conversation with her mama. Did I mention that Madison thinks she should be the center of attention at all times?

The other day Madison was belting out "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and I was listening to the words that she was singing. I discovered that she was singing "He's makin' a list, lickin' it twice". Why would Santa lick his list??? I think she gets her mis-interpretation of song lyrics from her "E-pa". He's notorious for that!

One other time I heard her singing "Jesus Loves the Little Children" and when she got to "red and yellow, black and white" I heard her her saying "yaka yaka yaka yaka". Did I mention that Madison likes to improvise if she doesn't know the words?

That's all I have time for today. Time for a doctor's appointment--a check up. Have a great day everyone, I can sure think of things that I'd rather be doing than sitting in a doctor's office....Kathy

You Make Me Smile...

Let me begin by apologizing for the poor quality of the photograph above, but my camera has a mind of its own! Surely it couldn't be the person operating the camera...Anyway, blurry or not, I love this photo!
There is nothing in the world that I love any better than watching the two little people in this photograph play--especially when they are laughing and having fun!
Now that Cade has learned to walk, my two grandchildren have a much better time playing together. Cade's mother was sitting in the floor playing with both children when this picture was taken.
I didn't get a picture of it, but there were actually a few moments when Cade was riding on Madison's back. It was so cute--sorry I missed getting a picture, but there was some serious Wii playing going on in the room at the same time!
Sometimes it's hard to tell who is having more fun at our house--the adults or the children! I think Sunday the adults may have had the most fun because several of them had sore arms on Monday... Have a great, fun-filled day.

Not Maddie Monday!

It's been a while since I've written a "Not Maddie Monday" post. Not because there hasn't been anything to write about mind you, but I just took a little break. Today, I'm here to catch you up on some of Madison's latest and greatest--concerning the potty.

Maddie did not have an unexpected attack of diarrhea while walking in the mall last week...I guess walking is good for constipation after all! We were not "caught" unprepared, too! Thank heavens for stores that sell little girl's underwear being nearby! Madison did not have to leave the mall wearing just her new underwear, her tunic top, and her shoes and socks! No, we would never take Madison out in forty degree weather wearing only a shirt and underwear...

Maddie has been going to the potty "all by herself" since just before Christmas! She does not come running down the hall and announce to everybody in the room "Hey everybody! I pee peed!" We do not all clap and shout hoo ray following her public announcement!

Her latest "trick" is to come running down the hall and yell "Hey everybody! I pooped! Then go into a brief description of what kind of turd that she pooped..."It was a big one!" Whoa, that's just a little more than we needed to know, Madison...

Madison is very stubborn about her potty habits. It has to always be on her terms--in her time! While trying to get her to go to the bathroom the other day before going off in the car, Madison did not tell me "I just can't tee tee." I said to Madison while pulling up her pants after having no success, "I think you are being just a little bit hard-headed!" Madison did not turn around look me square in the eyes and say "It's not nice to call people names!" Ha! I guess she told me!

The winner of my children's activity giveaway is.....Hayley!Congratulations! As soon as I get your address, your prize will be in the mail. I hope your children enjoy the activities, and thanks for participating! There will be a new giveaway this Friday.

I don't know if there's a carnival going on today or not--due to Mckmama's cruise trip, but if you like to read Not Me Monday posts, just hop on over to Mckmama's Place at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ on Mondays. Have a great Monday everyone.
