Six Word Saturday

I hate to be an old stick in the mud, but enough is enough! My six words are:

Rain! Third weekend in a row!!!

I don't mind rain, as long as it's not a flood, but the chance of rain tomorrow is 100%. Sounds pretty much like another flood to me! My satellite internet works poorly when it rains, not to mention that my husband can't get outside! Sounds like a l-o-n-g weekend to me!

All you have to do is guess up to 3 numbers between 1-100. Random.org will choose a winning number. Person guessing the number closest to the winning number, without going over, Wins! Game ends on Sunday night at midnight...

Now, let me introduce you to the neatest invention I've seen in a while...
It was an absolutely beautiful day here today. It was too beautiful to be inside, so Brandy, Madison, and I spent some time outside. It definately wasn't a typical January afternoon!

Brandy brought out this neat little battery-powered bubble gun that she bought for Madison back in the fall. It's the neatest little invention I've seen for children in a while.

All you have to do is keep the little bottle filled with solution, and watch the fun! It even lights up while it shoots the bubbles! Madison spent nearly an hour shooting bubbles at everything in sight. While she was busy having fun, her mother and I were relaxing in the warm sunshine and enjoying ourselves...Thank you so much to the inventer of the bubble gun!

Little Visitors...

Nothing brightens up our house like surprise visits from our two favorite little people, Maddie and Cade. I'm glad that they enjoy coming to MiMi and E's house. When Maddie comes over, her favorite line to say is "What we goin' to do now?" She likes to be entertained.

The other night Madison says to my husband, "E, get up and skate for me! I can't skate 'cause my back hurts!" I laughed and told her she'd been around too many old people! Good old E-pa got up from the couch after a hard day's work and pretended to skate with her on the carpet.

E-pa is notorious for giving out "treats" and it hasn't taken Cade long to figure that out. In the picture above, you can see part of E-pa holding the beloved candy jar. You can also see Cade pointing and asking for a treat. That's the scenario at our house every time the grandchildren visit.

It's only been about a month since Cade learned where the candy jar is, but he doesn't forget between visits. Last night when Cade popped in for a quick visit, he went to the shelf where the candy jar usually sits and pointed. Unfortunately, the jar was empty and wasn't there because I'd washed it. I guess MiMi better get busy and go to the store!

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes...

I just love listening to Madison talk or sing. I never know what is going to come out of that little mouth.

One of her favorite songs to sing lately has been "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". Maybe because she went caroling with some of the ladies of our church, and we sang it at every house that we visited! Madison sings it like this "We wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New You!" She refuses to sing it any other way.

Madison has a habit of echoing whatever anyone says. For instance, if I say "I have a new dress," Madison will follow that up with "I have a new dress, too!"

One of the cutest things that she says is "Ober dere" for "over there". My husband likes that one.

The other night Madison was trying to talk her daddy into giving her something to drink. It was late and he said something like "Honey, I can't give you anything to drink, or you'll wet the bed." She left the kitchen in a huff, and went on to tell her mama something like this "Mama, daddy called me a name! He called me Honey!" At least we know that she's learned that it's not nice to call people names! Now we have to teach her the difference between good names and bad names...

If It's Not One Thing, It's Two...

Poor Cade has been having a tough time of it lately. He celebrated his birthday in December, then had to go for his one year checkup. The one year checkup means five--count them--five shots! Five injections at one time! That's ridiculous, I can't believe that pediatricians do that.

Next Cade fell down while toddling around, and hit his face. He got a small, dark bruise on his little cheek. It's been there for over two weeks, and still hasn't completely gone away.

Then Cade started out the New Year with a cold and an ear infection. Actually I think he had one in December that never completely went away... He just doesn't seem to be able to catch a break lately. It's been a rough month for him. Poor baby!

Cade's mama took him to the doctor when he began running fever, and he got a shot, as well as antibiotics by mouth. The shot was painful, and the antibiotics gave him diarreah plus a terrible diaper rash. His little behind looked awful, and judging from the way he carried on during diaper changes--if felt awful.

Cade finished taking his antibiotics and his little behind got well. Now he has something going on with his "male parts". They're all red and swollen. I don't know what's up with that, but I guess it's back to the doctor again.

The phone rang early this morning...then it rang again...and again. When I finally answered it, I heard a faint voice on the other end of the line. It was Cade's daddy, my oldest son. He sounded like he was dying. It seems that in addition to Cade's problems, the family has been attacked by the stomach virus! It had not been a restful night for anyone at Cade's house. If it's not one thing, it's two...I hope everyone will soon be feeling better!

The winner of the weekend giveaway is Kathryn@Expectant Hearts. Congratulations to her, and thanks to everyone who participated. Have a great week everyone!
