It's A Small World...Maddie's Version

Yesterday I went shopping with Maddie and her mother. On the way home, Madison was sitting in the backseat singing "It's a Small World". We couldn't quite figure out what some of the words were that she was singing--she tends to improvise--a lot!

Finally, we think we heard her sing "Mr. Barber's at the mall" (instead of it's a small world after all) then she followed it up with "with a sack of toys" (instead of it's a small, small world)

I guess it was a moment where you had to be there...but it was hilarious in person! Now if I could only figure out what she is saying when she says the blessing before a meal...

A Good Daddy...

Do you remember the old saying "Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a daddy"? I'm so happy to see that my oldest son is one of those special people.

It's a common sight to see my oldest son, Brett, outside playing with Cade. Cade will be busy exploring, while Brett patiently keeps him out of trouble. It's a good thing that Brett has long legs, cause Cade sure can get around!

Sometimes the two of them will take a short stroller ride down to our house to play for a bit. It's wonderful to see them interact and spend time with each other.

I saw a sight the other day that really warmed my heart...Cade was outside playing at our house when Brett came over, straight from work. Little Cade ran out to greet his daddy, saying "Dadee, Dadee". I loved it!

The next best thing to raising my own children is watching my children raise theirs...I'm so happy to see that Brett is a "chip off the old block". His father was a great daddy...

From The Mouth Of Maddie...

One thing I can say about Madison ...she loves to talk! She talks all of the time, and when she talks, she talks loud! Now that she is getting older, some of the things that she says are so funny.

Today I went over to Maddie's house to watch a newsclip that Brandy had recorded of our former next-door neighbor when he was on a local television show.

As usual, Madison was playing and chattering away so we couldn't hear a thing being said. After asking Madison to be quiet twice, Brandy went and got her paddle. As soon as she saw the paddle, Madison immediately ceased talking.

As soon as the news clip was over, Madison looked at us and asked "Can I talk now?" Her mama said "Yes". Madison followed up with "Can I talk loud?"

Yes, Maddie is full of words these days...she never stops talking. Every now and then she'll burst out with a bunch of words that we can't understand...sometimes they sound like something that she probably shouldn't be saying...When we ask "What did you say?" She gets quiet and says "Sorry". Sometimes it's probably a good thing we can't understand those words, especially if she feels the need to apologize.

Oh Madison, you make life so interesting for us all...
