Look Who Went To The Park...

Isn't it funny how some of our best times happen spontaneously? We had one of those kinds of days last week, when my daughter decided on a whim, to make a visit to a nearby park. She also decided to invite me, Caden, and Caden's mama along.
It was getting near lunchtime, so we made a detour by McDonald's to get some food. Nothing makes the little ones happy like a "Happy Meal"! There are also times when a "Happy Meal" makes MiMi happy, too...

The park turned out to be a fantastic place for the children to play. It was completely fenced in, so we could relax a bit while they played on the playground equipment. Madison is big enough to get on the playground equipment by herself which was nice.

The highlight of the day came the whistle blew, and a train came speeding by on the adjacent railroad tracks! Caden was absolutely thrilled because he loves "Thomas" the train! After the train went by, Caden said, "I want it to come back!" After a couple of hours in the warm sunshine, and a "Happy Meal", guess who was ready for a nap??? Everybody!

Loving the springing rubber ducky...

and the teeter totter...

and the "Happy Meals"...

Caden's Neighbor...The Donkey

Caden and Mr. Donkey

Our entire family lives on the family farm belonging to my husband's parents. In addition to each other, our closest neighbors are cattle...and an occasional donkey. Our neighbor raises Black Angus beef cattle, and he utilizes donkeys to help protect his herd.

We are all well acquainted with one of the donkeys in particular. Any time one of us walks or rides a bike down our little dirt road beside Mr. Donkey's fence, he blows and snorts at us! He used to "bully" Caden's daddy when he tried to jog up and down the road. It must have worked, because there hasn't been much running going on in a while...

Mr. Donkey tries hard to be intimidating, but we've discovered if we walk toward Mr. Donkey, he quickly retreats. Apparently, Mr. Donkey and Caden have a better relationship than the rest of us...

A Flower Girl Who Took Her Job Very Seriously...

Madison had her first experience as a "flower girl" on last Saturday evening--and her mama says she did a great job!

The evening started out a bit "shaky" with all three of the flower girls having aching feet before the wedding. There was a problem concerning the shoes and socks for the little girls. In the end, they simply ended up going down the aisle barefooted...How simple is that?

Madison took her job as flower girl very serious! Brandy says she was so particular where she placed the rose petals, that she caused a little gap in the wedding procession...to the point her parents were wondering if she refused to walk the aisle! No worries though, Madison was meticulously placing those petals, and her mom says she looked precious while doing it.

In fact, Madison still had some petals left by the time she reached the front of the church, so on the way out of the church, she was still trying to spread a few more! Don't you just love a four-year-old who takes her work seriously?

She Said What??!!

After I wrote the previous post about my daughter's dilemma about where to send our granddaughter to school, an interesting thing happened. I got an email from her entitled "Home schooling is sounding better and better". Here's the reason for that email...

Apparently, the other night Madison and her daddy were playing together, and at some point during their playtime, Madison called her daddy an ugly word. She called him a "b_st_rd"! Madison's parents couldn't believe their ears so they asked her to repeat what she said--and she did!

That's when the fireworks began next-door! After things settled down, Brandy asked Madison where in the world had she ever hear such a word. Madison told her mama that a little boy at school calls her that during recess--as a sort of "term of endearment!"

After hearing this story, my husband muttered under his breath, "I need to teach Madison a word to call that boy next time he calls her a b_st_rd..." He was joking of course--I think! LOL

And the saga continues...
