Not Me, Monday....Maddie does it again...

This blog carnival was begun by mckmama over at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/. When you've finished reading my post, you can head over to her site and read some more Monday adventures, if you like...
I just have to dedicate today's post to Maddie..again. She's at that age where every day brings a new challenge...and a new story to tell!

No, Madison and her family did not drive nearly 3 hours lastSunday to the beach and visit a homesick "MiMi". Madison did not arrive all full of energy and ready to play--while her parents arrived ready to take a nap!

No, Madison's daddy did not forget to bring his work boots on the brief overnight trip, from which he was driving 2 hours to work at 4:30 Monday morning...

No, the whole bunch of us did not head out to Wal-mart at 8:00 in the evening to find Maddie's daddy a pair of boots to wear to work the next day...

While shopping in Wal-mart, we did not take Maddie over to the bicycles to see what kind we could find...No, we did not find the perfect bicycle! It was not a Barbie bicycle, with a little pink bicycle on the handlebar for Barbie, a ringing bell, and long streamers on the handlebars...It did not have the cutest little purple flowers for bicycle pedals...We did not sit Madison on the seat of the bicycle and begin to smell an odor...Madison did not get so excited over the Barbie bicycle that she pooped in her big girl panties! We did not have to leave-- with Madison crying in protest!!!

Of course, the nearest bathroom was not closed for cleaning(aren't theyalways) so we did not head out to the van and stand around in the parking lot at Brandy cleaned Maddie up in the van under the cover of darkness...

We did not return to the condo at the beach where Maddie's mama dropped the soiled underwear into a load of clothes that MiMi was washing--apparently without inspecting them very close...When the load of clothes finished washing and drying, MiMi did not detect the smell of "poop" on the clothes! MiMi did not actually find "poop" in the clothes dryer!!!!! MiMi did not bring home a load of previously washed, poopy smelling clothes...to be washed again!

On, the way home from the beach trip, MiMi, E, Brandy, and Maddie did not stop at Burger King to eat lunch...Maddie did not ask to go out on the playground. Maddie did not get excited and again, poop in her big girl panties--a LOT! This time, Maddie's mama and MiMi were not both in the bathroom of Burger King cleaning and scrubbing. Maddie's mama did not have Madison standing in the sink while she washed the poop off with her hand, while MiMi had the soiled underwear dipping them in the public toilet trying to get the poop out of them!!! All three girls did not finally emerge from the ladies room, wipe their hands with a clorox wipe, and proceed to head for home--without making anymore stops!

Don't forget, if you leave a comment, you will be entered in my 10 dollar Target Gift Card Giveaway...Celebrating my upcoming 100th post...Drawing will be held in 9 more days...Good luck!

Not Maddie, Monday

Yes, Madison did not finally cooperate with her mother and get potty trained last week, after 3 months of trying!!! Let's hear it for successful potty training! YES! I am so happy--for my daughter (and Madison, too)! I remember what a struggle that I had potty training her, and how relieved I was when she finally "got it"!
Brandy had worked with Madison for the past 3 months, with very little success. She noticed that Madison would sit on the potty for several minutes, get up and then immediately wet her pants. Maddie was holding her urine until she got off the potty! We knew then that Madison was ready, but just wasn't cooperating for some reason.

Brandy tried everything--including rewards and praise for the few successes that Madison had over the summer. I even did the "happy dance"(a sight to behold, I am sure) every time Madison used the potty successfully...the summer rolled on!

On the first day of September, Madison wet her training pants--which meant she also wet the carpet in the living room. She went to Brandy and told her that she had "pee peed", then showed Brandy the spot on the carpet...that was it!!! If Madison was old enought to tell her and show her where she "pee peed" then she was old enough to be potty trained! Brandy put her final plan of action into place...

(1)Brandy closed off all rooms with carpeting. Madison had free run of the rest of the house with wood floors. (2) She told Madison that when she learned to use the potty that she could come back on the carpet. (3)She gave her extra liquids to drink. (4)She also told her she could watch one 30 minute show on television when she used the potty. (4)The last thing that Brandy did was to make her go without underwear, which Madison hates! Almost immediately, Madison used the potty. Whenever Madison would have an accident, she didn't like it because the urine didn't feel running down her legs! The day continued with about half success/half accidents.

Brandy continued this plan of action the rest of the week, and in addition she took Maddie outside a good bit--wearing dresses and no panties. By the end of the week Maddie was potty trained! So, after 3 months of no success...a change of tactics....success within 3 days! Yes! No more diapers for Maddie! I just love a story with a good ending....

I am not sure if Mckmama is doing a blog carnival today, but feel free to go on over to her place and check http://www.mycharmingkids.net/

Madison and Potty Training

When my daughter, Brandy, was small and I was trying to potty train her, it was the most frustrating thing time of my life. I tried several times to train her and used various bribes to encourage her to use the potty. I am ashamed to admit it, but I even spanked her a few times for not co-operating. Nothing I tried worked. I would get discouraged and stop trying---only to try again later. This went on for several months. Finally, she decided that she was ready to go along with my plan and was totally trained in two weeks! Looking back, I don't think I trained her at all, I think she just made up her mind and trained herself.

Now the tables have turned and it's Brandy's time of frustration as she tries to get her daughter, Madison potty trained. Brandy is having the same experience with Madison that I had with her. There have been several attempts to potty train Madison with no success. She just doesn't want to participate in this game! She has absolutely no interest! She is now 2 years and 7 months old.

Yesterday Madison was visiting at my house for a while. She had been outside in her bathing suit and as I was taking the bathing suit bottoms off I found a tiny bit of poop in them. Madison then said to me "That's gross! Pew-e-e-e, that stinks!" I answered back to Madison, "If you are big enought to tell me that, then you are big enough to be potty trained!" I don't think she agrees with me just yet!
