Six Word Saturday

Welcome to the weekend ya'll! It's time to participate in "Six Word Saturday"! Love it! If only all blog posts were this easy...I have to describe my life-or something-in just six words. That's it! This meme originates from Cate at http://www.showmyface.com Some very nice people participate, if you'd like to go over to her site and take a look.

My six words for today are:

Grandaughter spent last night with me!

That's right, Madison spent the night with MiMi! She's stayed before, but it's been a while--and that's my fault. (Madison, I will try to do better!) Madison is a "bed hog"! She likes to sleep in the middle of the bed. Last night she was trying to throw her leg over me...something that her mother and I have a habit of doing, too. Isn't it funny how "family traits" get passed on?

Friday's Giveaway...Choose a Number Between 1 and 35

One of Madison's favorite things to do is to color. She always wants to color whenever she comes to my house. Her mother has been coloring with her since she was around two. Madison also enjoys playing with puzzles. Her other favorite activities are painting with watercolor paints and playing with playdough.

Now that the weather is getting cooler and sometimes rainy and nasty outside, I've decided to have a giveaway for children. This giveaway consists of 2 cardboard puzzles and a coloring/activity book with some crayons. I hope some little child somewhere will enjoy playing with these things. I enjoyed picking them out--it's the school teacher in me. Just getting a package in the mail is fun--I love that!

I'm going to do something a little different for this giveaway. I am going to use Random.org to choose a random number. Whoever guesses the number or comes closest without going over is the winner. How simple is that? If two people choose the same number, and that number wins, I will give the prize to the person who chose the number first. So...choose a number between 1 and 35 and leave your guess as a comment. (example: I choose 24) Please make only one guess per comment, and no more than three guesses total. Thanks for hopping by and good luck!

Chocolate Cake Anyone???

Guess who likes chocolate cake? That's right, Cade does! I rarely bake cakes anymore, but my daughter and I combined our efforts and made a cake for last Sunday's dinner. Both Cade and Madison enjoyed dessert very much--the meat and vegetables--not as much! I just wish could have gotten a picture of Cade sitting in that high chair with his feet proped up on the tray while he was eating! He was "chillin" for sure...

I guess this is just a glimpse into the future of what Cade will look like on his first birthday! It will be here before we know it. His mama is already busy planning. He's already got his "birthday boy" outfit and she is about to order his party supplies...Slow down time...you are moving way too fast!

We Have Our Own Little "Handy Manny"...

Cade turned 10 months old Monday. Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday that he was a tiny bundle coming home from the hosital...

Cade has no time for singing, rocking, or loving. He's a boy on the move! He's got the art of crawling and pulling up down pat! He's everywhere, exploring everything! He doesn't have a lot of time for toys--he prefers cabinet doors and drawers.

Whenever Cade comes to visit he has just a few favorite toys that he seems to enjoy playing with more than the rest. One of his favorites is this Handy Manny tool set. When the button on the front is pressed the tools jump up and down and sing the Handy Manny theme song or talk among themselves. He loves the theme song!

Our living room looks like a playroom, but that's okay. We had a good fifteen years of having a boring clean living room. It's much more fun to have the grandkids come over and enjoy themselves! I don't want the grandkids to ever come over to our house and be bored. I love it when Ed comes home from work, looks around and says, "I see that you had company today!"

I'm so thankful that we finally have little ones to come over and "liven the house up" again. Just like "old times". Have a great day, and thanks so much for stopping by....

Tuesday's Blog Hop--A Poem For You

Writing a poem the old fashioned way--with pen and paper!

I enjoy all kinds of writing, including poems. Today, I'd like to share a little poem with you that I wrote about blogging. I hope you enjoy it, the words are true...

"Kathy's Blogging Poem"

One day when I joined Twitter to "tweet"

I found some blogs that were so sweet!

Decided I'd like to give blogging a try

With that decision I kissed my "spare time" good-bye!

I couldn't settle for writing ONE blog

I started writing TWO, just like a hog!

I write about family and tales of the past

About grandbabies whose childhoods won't last...

Not Me, Monday was my first blog hop

I've joined three more and probably should stop!

My aim is to leave legacy, perhaps brighten your day

On Fridays when I give two prizes away!

I love to write, I've made some new friends.

I sure hope this blogging trend never ends!

Thanks for stopping by...

Not Me, Monday....Maddie does it again...

Thanks so much to those who participated in the Friday Giveaway. I have found a home for 'Treator' the Halloween beanie baby bear. The winner of Treator is ...A Country Mom! Congratulations! (She's such a loyal reader and commenter, and I appreciate her very much.)

It's Monday again! Woo Hoo! Time to be brutally honest. Today's post is dedicated to our
grandaughter, Maddie. She does so many things now that are worth writing about. The problem is--I forget them before it's Monday again!

Maddie was newly potty trained when her family took their trip to Disneyworld. If you've been to Disneyworld, you know that it's a bit of a chore to get to the bathroom. Needless to say, Maddie came home "untrained". This past week has not been rough...trying to get Maddie back in potty trained mode!

Madison did not refuse to cooperate on Monday when her mother gated her off from the carpeted area of the house until she used the potty. When Brandy finally let Maddie come onto the carpet, Maddie did not pee pee on the freshly shampooed carpet! Not Maddie!

When Maddie's mother told her to go and potty, Maddie did not let out a long sigh, roll her eyes a bit and say, "I'm so tired of this!" Maddie's mother asked "Tired of what?" Maddie did not then say "Going to the potty!"

Maddie did not eat a hole out of the middle of her piece of bread, put it on her face, then say "Ho, Ho, Ho!" Maddie's mother did not find that amusing...

Maddie did not find it amusing to run all around the yard clapping her hands at the cats and watching them run...She is not just a wee bit mean...She was not shooting them with a spray bottle of water earlier in the week...

On Saturday night while daughter, Brandy, and I were making a cake for Sunday's lunch, Maddie did not keep begging for cake. Maddie does not love cake! I did not keep letting Maddie taste the chocolate frosting over and over. My husband did not also give Maddie several pieces of candy corn, without my knowledge. Maddie did not proceed to stay up half of the night after she went home! We will not make that mistake again!!!

I did not decorate our living room for Halloween by hanging bats and spiders from the ceiling. Madison was not terrified of the spider and did not want to stay in the room. We did not have a difficult time convincing her that it was a toy...

That's not nearly all of what's been happening around here, but I will save some stuff for later. Hop on over to Mckmama's place at http://mycharmingkids.net/ and check out her carnival of Not Me Monday posters. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by...
