An Ugly Princess...

The older our granddaughter, Madison, gets, the more opinionated she gets...and this sometimes gets her in trouble. (I sometimes have the same problem.)
This past weekend Madison's mama didn't feel particularly well for most of the weekend. She layed around the house in her comfy clothes, and didn't bother to "fix" her hair.
Sometime over the weekend, Madison looked at her mama and said, "Mama, you look like an ugly princess."(talk about getting kicked when you are down...)
Brandy quickly shot Madison one of those "killer looks" that she and I are so famous for, and quickly asked Madison, "What did you just say?"
When Madison saw that "killer look", and heard that "tone" in her mama's voice--she knew that she'd messed up!
She quickly covered her mouth, then tried to back-track and say that she meant to say "a beautiful princess."(learning to lie already!)
Brandy then gave Madison a little lesson in what is and is not appropriate to say--and sent her to her room to think about "things" for a while.
I wonder if Madison will keep her thoughts to herself next time...probably not, it's a trait that seems to run in this family!

Little Things...

On Friday evening, Cade and his family came over for a visit. He was a busy boy! Madison and her family also came over, and she was a busy girl, too. The two of them together were a whirlwind of excitement. There is never a dull (or quiet) moment when those two get together!
Cade had been "riding in his car seat" again, and had been to visit his great-grandma at the personal care home. His daddy said that Cade "wowed" all of the ladies there by giving them "high fives"! Cade never ceases to amaze us. He had only been to the home once before, yet he remembered where "MeMa's" room was--as well as her drawer full of toys, and the fact that she had goldfish crackers.
The new thing that Cade has started doing is letting his daddy whisper in his ear. Brett will say "Come here, Cade, let me tell you something", and Cade will go over and lean his ear toward his daddy, while Brett whispers "a secret".(I wish I had a picture) On this particular evening, Brett told Cade to go and give "MiMi" some "sugar", which he promptly did--and I promptly enjoyed! Precious moments for sure...
After that, Cade was off to explore the contents of MiMi's toy box, kitchen cabinets, wearing a few pairs of "stray shoes" along the way...What a funny little guy!
