Anticipating many fun activities this fall...

I love this time of the year. I love to decorate for this season. Soon my yard will be filled with hay, pumpkins, and fall flowers--followed by monsters, bats, and ghosts... My daughter and grandaughter both celebrate birthdays in October, and of course there's Halloween and Thanksgiving! I can hardly wait!

Now I'm going to hop over to http://www.showmyface.com and see what my blog hoping friends have written in their Six Word Saturday posts...come and join in the fun! Thanks for hopping by.

Fun Friday...Bring "Spot" to Your House!

$$$$$$$$See Spot! I would like to send Spot to your house! $$$$$$$

It's Fun Friday, which means that it's time to have a little fun here on my little blog! Believe it or not, within the next two weeks, I will be celebrating the publishment of my 100th post! On Labor Day, I published my 100th post on my other blog, Reflections...by Kathy. Whew, that's a lot of writing! No wonder my house looks the way it does...

I've chosen to give away a Target gift card worth ten dollars to one lucky reader, which represents 10 cents for each post...my 10 cents worth...100 times! To be entered for a chance to "bring Spot to your house", just leave a comment between today and my 100th post. That's it! Feel free to comment each day between now and then, if you like. Just scroll down past the McLinky list to leave a comment...

I love getting new followers, too, so I'm hoping some of my new visitors will consider following me. If you choose to follow, please let me know in the form of a comment! Thanks for stopping by, and good luck to all!

Cade's Special Gift to Us

This past Sunday was Grandparent's Day. My husband and I were out of town on a weekend trip to the beach. I always take my laptop computer with me when I go off overnight. I checked my email and facebook on Sunday morning to find a sweet message from Caden wishing us Happy Grandparent's Day. I hadn't even thought about what day it was...until then!

On Wednesday evening, Cade and his mother came to visit with us, while our son was at a church nominating committee meeting. They came bearing the gift that is pictured above. I love it so much, I just had to share it with you! It's one of those gifts that I will treasure always...

When Christina and Brett came to tell us the news that they were expecting Caden, they handed us a small framed sonogram photo with words under it saying "What's in my tummy?" That's how they broke the news...I thought that was quite unique, and I also have a keepsake reminder of that special occasion.

Thanks to Caden(and his mom) for the lovely Grandparent's Day gift...and for the precious memories that you have given us during the past 9 months of being your grandparents...You're such a blessing to us!

It Eventually Happens To Everyone...illness

I'm running late publishing my post for today for a good reason...Madison got sick yesterday afternoon with a fever of 103. After a long night, Maddie's mama called me this morning, and asked if I would please drive the two of them to the pediatrician's office which is 30 miles away.

By now, I carry a camera in my purse, so I couldn't resist snapping a pic of Madison while she was waiting for Dr. P to come in and check her out! I just can't resist a Kodak moment.

It turned out that Madison has picked up some viral thing. Nothing to do, but let it run it's course. We hear this every time that we take Madison to Dr. P. Dr. P doesn't believe in using antibiotics unless it's absolutely unavoidable. Fortunately, Madison hasn't been sick very much in her lifetime, and has never taken any antibiotics. By the time my own children were 3 years old, they had taken a "boat load" of antibiotics! Times have changed...

After the doctor's visit, I think Madison ended up feeling better than her mother and I did. We came home and wanted to nap--Madison wanted to play! I told Madison, who gets very cranky when she gets sick, "Madison, you are ornery", to which she replied "No, I'm Madison!" Kids, you gotta' love em...

Tuesday's Blog Hop--One of My Forms of Art-- Costumes!

When I first saw the subject for today's hop "ART", I thought, well, that knocks me out of this one...because I can't draw anything! Seriously, I've had first grade students who could draw much better than I can. However, God did give me various other talents/forms of art! Today I've chosen to share some of the costumes that I've made for my children over the years. Forgive the picture quality, these pics are getting old.Caden's daddy, Brett, and Maddie's mama, Brandy. He's a scarecrow and she's a bee. She won the prize at the school costume contest for "most original costume". Picture is from around 1984.

This is Brandy in 1982. The show "Little House on the Prarie" was popular then and I made her a costume so she'd look like "Half Pint". The dress and bonnet were blue with tiny white flowers. She even had a pail!

This was my toughest costume that I ever made, and my husband helped me on it some. Brandy was a candle for the Christmas Parade in 1984. She won second place for "most original costume".

This was Brett dressed as a Christmas present for the Christmas Parade in 1984. I thought he made a cute little gift!

Brett in 1984(I think) wearing a clown costume that I originally made for Brandy in 1979 or 1980. This was the first costume that I ever made.

I've enjoyed sharing these pics with you. Thanks for hopping by, please come again soon. Click on the McLinky below to visit more participants in today's blog hop...

I Just Love Contests!!!

I was running a little late getting the winner of the weekend giveaway contest chosen and notified today. That was because I was out of town for the weekend and didn't get home until about 4 o'clock this afternoon. After unloading the car, and resting for a bit, the first thing that I did was draw for the winners of the contest. Congratulations to Mom2boys for being chosen this week's winner! I'll be holding another contest/giveaway on Friday, hop on by and enter to win!

Not Me, Monday...at the Beach!

Greetings, this Monday is not finding me ending a long weekend at the beach in Florida. It does not find me, a bit sad that the weekend is over, but also glad to be going back to my home sweet home!!!

No, the weather was not cloudy and a bit rainy of and on for the weekend...No I didn't spend more time shopping than I did on the beach. No, I don't LOVE to shop, though...No, my hubby did not wait so patiently while I got my "shopping fix"...

No, I didn't hear on Fox News, yesterday, that MRSA bacteria has been discovered on some of our beaches...that's the stuff that is resistant to antibiotics and will kill you quickly...my hubby works in a hospital and is well educated about it...even knows a lady who died from it...just what you want to hear when you are AT the beach! No, I wouldn't want to die from bacteria that I picked up from beach sand or water....on my birthday celebration get away...

No, we did not take an early morning walk on the beach this morning looking for shells and shark teeth...no, I did not find my first conk shells....well worn, but none the less, conk shells!

No, we did not get to the beach on our get away, only to be missing our loved ones at home...The last time we were here, our grandbabies and mamas were with us...I kept thinking about our last trip and how much fun we had...

No, I did not call my daughter twice, email her 3 times, and talk on facebook for 45 minutes...No, she and her family did not come to the beach on our final day here, because I sort of begged...no, I wouldn't do that...

No, I am not so glad they came--even though their stay was very short...I did not miss all of them very much...My heart did not get happy when Madison told me on the phone that she was coming to the beach to see me and that she loved me! I did not feel sad for Madison's daddy who had to get up at 4:30 to drive to work 2 hours away...

That's it for my Not Me, Monday...what have you not been doing? Check out mckmama's blog carnival at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ for more Not Me, Monday posts...
