It's a funny thing about our grandchildren, if they come to our house, and we are eating a meal, they automatically invite themselves to eat.
In Maddie's case, it doesn't matter if she's just finished a meal at her own house, she has to have some of what we're having. My husband started giving her "samples" when she was just a baby.
Caden will walk into our kitchen, and immediately go to his chair, which sits at the far end of the table. He starts fumbling with the buckles of his booster seat, trying to get in the seat. If we are eating, he is going to join us!
The other evening we were eating supper when Caden and his daddy popped in for a visit. That evening Caden brought his own supper with him. He quickly settled in and began eating at the table with us. Of course, he had to have some of MiMi's peas, in addition to his own meal!
While eating, Caden noticed a large bowl of artificial apples that I have sitting on the kitchen table, and said "Lots of apples!" To which I replied, "Yes, but those apples aren't real." To which Caden replied, "The boogie man not real!" To which I sat stunned and speechless for a moment....thinking-- Where in the heck did that come from?
In the next breath, Caden said something about the boogie man and VeggieTales...I was really confused then!
Caden's mom had to enlighten me. On the show, VeggieTales, there is an episode that talks about God being bigger than the boogie man. Alrighty then, but how in the heck did we go from apples to the "boogie man" to Veggietales? Ah, the mind of a two-year-old is a busy thing...
