Madison and "E"...

Before I begin, let me explain where the name "E" comes from. I used to be the nanny of twin baby girls. My husband's name is Ed, but they couldn't say Ed, so they would just say "E". The name sort of stuck... then when our daughter became pregnant, we were joking around one evening and her husband, Clint, suggested the name "E-Pa"...it stuck! So while I am known to the grandchildren as "MiMi", my husband is "E-Pa" or just plain "E" for short!

Ed is one of the most loving and patient people that I know. He is exactly like his daddy was. He's never too busy...So whether it's reading a book in the middle of the Goodwill Store, or playing the harmonica, he always makes time. He's musically talented and plays the piano--as well as the harmonica! He's also known for whistling--another talent that he's beenn trying to teach Madison.

Ed even takes time to play dolls with Madison. Some of Madison's favorite times with "E" are chewing gum outside with him, helping him feed the rabbits, and riding with him in the truck to take the trash off. Their favorite indoor activities are sitting in the recliner and eating whatever "goodies" that "E" has stashed in the arm of his chair, or playing "catch" with a soft stuffed ball. They sure do have some good times with that ball in the house...sometimes they have so much fun, "MiMi" has to call a "time out"! Just call me, the party pooper....

Cade's Best Friend, Larry

Recently, when our whole family went on a family vacation to the beach, we took some time to do a little browsing and shopping. One of our stops was the Goodwill Store. That particular store had a rather large assortment of children's books. We all love books!

Cade's mama found several books that were in mint condition. Among those finds was a "Veggie Tales" book. Cade was sitting in the shopping cart when she handed the book to him. He got so excited! I wish I'd taken video of his reaction. He sat in the cart and looked at that book over and over while we finished shopping.

Later, I took the opportunity to read the book to find out what "Veggie Tales" is all about. It was a cute little book with a nice concept behind it. Cade's definately already gotten seventy-five cents worth of pleasure from that book! Cade says he doesn't know about concepts and bargains, he just knows that he LOVES Larry the Cucumber--and if Cade's happy we're happy, too!

Tuesday Blog Hop--Make Me Laugh... Madison...

"I want some meat and potatoes...cake and ice cream...not this nasty old rice cereal and formula!" "Bring on the good stuff, PLEASE!"

"I don't find this one bit amusing, MiMi!...Why did you put this Cool Whip bowl on my head? Take it off....I can't think....it's squeezing my brain....HELP....someone.....anyone!!!"

"You'd cry, too, if you had this little rubber band on top of your head...OUCH, I have a headache....somebody bring me a tylenol, please??? What is wrong with you people??"

"I was just sitting here minding my own business, playing in the dirt, when this crazy old cat came out here and turned over my bucket... and my glass.... somebody please call the cat???

"Don't tell me that I can't have any more drink! I want more drink and I want it NOW! I'll scream until you give me some!!!!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT.....

You spend the first 2 yeas of their life teaching them to walk and talk...then spend the next 16 telling them to sit down and shut up!

Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children!

Mothers of teenagers now know why some animals eat their young!
Children seldom misquote you ...In fact they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said!

The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own!

AND FINALLY: if you have a lot of tension and you have a headache, do what it says on the aspirin bottle "take two aspirin, and keep away from children."

Not Me, Monday...

Life around our house is so funny and crazy! Not just on Mondays, but every day...Nothing like a lively "nearly three year old" to keep it exciting. It's particularly fun now that Madison is getting more verbal.

She's always loved to talk, since she was a baby, and I believe that she always knew what she was saying....we just couldn't figure it out! Things have gotten a lot better, but we still have our days...

Like today when Madison wanted to watch "something" on television. At first, I thought she said she wanted to watch "beauty shop", then we thought she said "nudie show"...and her daddy said "What channel is that on?"(LOL) The last time it sounded like she was saying "music box" ...There were several of us in the room and nobody could figure out what she wanted to watch! Madison just got this "OH BROTHER!" look on her face....we never did figure it out!

All of this confusion happened immediately following lunch when Madison was denied a piece of MiMi's chocolate cake "because she just can't like her peas!" Poor Maddie! Could her day get any worse???

The real "kicker" to the day was when Madison and family came back for supper in the evening. Madison's mother was telling me that Madison's new favorite movie is Tinkerbell and that they had watched "Return to Neverland"(part 2 of Peter Pan) this afternoon. My husband who was in the kitchen with us at the time, but just heard the "Return to Neverland" part of the conversation said, "Ya'll been watching that Michael Jackson stuff"?!!! I am sorry, but I just lost it!!! I nearly wet my pants from laughing so hard...

That's it for our crazy Mondays, and other days....head on over to Mckmama's blog carnival http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ and see what else crazy is going on. Thanks for stopping by ya'll!
