Cousins Go To The Movies

Caden's mother works partime at her sister's daycare. This week the daycare took a little "end of the summer" fieldtrip to the movies to see The VeggieTales. Christina graciously invited Madison and us along. Apparently, the little daycare children are big fans of VeggieTales!
I kept looking behind me in amazement at the row of little smiling faces happily munching their popcorn and watching their heros on the big screen. Even little Caden was enjoying himself sitting in his mother's lap. He loves Larry the Cucumber!
Madison sat on her mother's lap and watched the movie for a while, then she took her own seat for a while, but she wasn't in the mood for popcorn. She enjoyed the musical parts of the movie, but was more interested in the steps of the movie theater. She wanted to go and play on them during the movie...I guess she's just not a "die hard" VeggieTales fan. Whenever we ask her about her trip to the movies, she says she went to "The Big TV". Ah, children...gotta' love 'em!

Caden's New Tricks

Little Caden recently turned 7 months old. I can't believe how fast he's growing up. Each week brings new surprises. He's constantly learning new things. Last week I discovered that he could "pat-a-cake" with the soles of his feet. I don't ever remember seeing a baby do that before, but his mom says she has a nephew that also does that.

This week Caden has learned to clap his hands. He's so cute. When he hears you say "Yaaaa" he puts his hands together or when he hears "Pat-a-cake".

Every week I keep expecting a tooth to pop through, but none yet. He sure is working on it though. If drooling and nawing would pop them out, he'd have a mouthful!

Caden and family ate Sunday lunch with us. For the first time, he didn't seem interested in eating. What he did seem interested in was PLAYING, and that's just what he did--in the floor with all of his favorite toys!

Not My Child, Monday!

Children never cease to amaze me. You never know what they will say or do. Be prepared for anything. My grandaughter has that kind of personality! Maddie actually should've been the daughter of my middle child, who was into everything, not my first born, who was always well behaved. Life is not always fair...

Maddie did not make noise in church on Sunday...she didn't see her father giving her a very dirty look and proceed to blow him a raspberry! No, dear Maddie would never do that--especially in church!

Maddie has not picked up this horrible habit of telling people to "go away" when they rub her the wrong way...not our child!

Maddie did not go into her Papa's gamehouse and see his wild boar's head on the wall, think that it was The Lion King's Pumba and burst into tears...not that child! She did not worry about Pumba until late in the evening after that shocking experience...not Maddie!

Maddie does not constantly say to everyone, "Look at me!" and then later look at us and say "Why you lookin' at me?", no, not that child!

Maddie does not ask for a "samich", chips and tea for breakfast, not that child, and last but not least, Maddie does not follow her aunt around constantly asking her to change baby Caden's diaper...just so she can sneak a peak! That's our Maddie, and she would never do that!

Hop on over to Mckmama's place http://www.mycharmingkids.net, check out her blog carnival and see what everyone else's kids are NOT doing this week. It's fun!

Please Pray for Kate

I am so thankful for the two precious grandchildren that God has blessed our family with. The gift of life is so precious.

I recently came across the story of little Kate Mcrae. She is 5 or 6 years old and was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor on June 29. They have removed what they could of the tumor and she is currently undergoing treatment for the remaining tumor. She is in Phoenix Children's Hospital. This is not the sort of thing that any of us would ever want to see our child go through. Take a moment and pray for Kate and her family. Kate is listed on the caringbridge website.
