I have an old Fisher Price "Marching Band Set" at my house. It belonged to my children when they were small--well over 25 years ago! (I just love Fisher Price toys for their durability!)
Included in the band set is a harmonica, two maracas, two cymbals, a tambourine, a drum/drumsticks, and just for good measure we threw in a kazoo! The grand kids love it! They have already played with the set way more than my children ever did.
Cade loves to get those instruments out and "make some music". When he plays those cymbals, I just have to laugh. He reminds me of one of those little battery-powered monkeys that grins and plays the cymbals. (I think one of those little monkeys was in the movie Toy Story 3)And no, Cade, you do not look like a monkey--it's those cymbals...
Cade recently learned how to get the harmonica to make sounds, and he is so thrilled with himself! Out of all of those instrument choices, what do you think his favorite "music maker" might be??? The good old kazoo, of course! He's pretty good at making noise with it, too! Do you think maybe he'll drop by and serenade me when I am old and gray???

Guess Who's Learning To Dance...
When my daughter, Brandy, was small, I decided to enroll her in dance classes. She was very shy and awkward. I thought the dance experience would be good for her, and it was. She ended up taking dance lessons for seven or eight years.
Here it is twenty-five years later, and Brandy's daughter(Madison) started taking dancing lessons yesterday! She enjoyed prancing around in her leotard and tights just as much as her mother used to.
I must say that it was pretty eerie seeing Madison get out of the car in her little dance outfit. She looks just like her mom used to look! I hope that she will enjoy her dancing experience just as much as her mom did. MiMi can't wait for recital time! Now I can actually sit and enjoy the performance--and not have to worry about costume changes!

Guess Who Came To Visit...
We are so blessed to have our children living all around us. I don't know what I'd do if this were not the case--we're spoiled. Our oldest son married and moved 7 miles into town a few years ago, and it was hard...I always felt as though a piece of me was missing. Fortunately, he felt compelled to move back to the family farm just over two years ago!
Thankfully, our family is a close one. We see each other on a regular basis. I spend time with my daughter daily, since we live so close--right next-door. We don't always see our sons a lot during the week, due to their long work commitments, but on the weekends we usually end up spending time together, and it's nice.
This past weekend, Cade's family visited us on all three evenings, and it was nice. On Friday evening my son called and explained that they were coming over because "we don't have any money, we have a kid, and there isn't anything to do "...LOL I love Brett, he's so much like me...he tells it like it is!
The adults played some Wii, while Cade tried out every pair of MiMi's shoes that he could find! He is impressive in his ability to actually walk around in shoes that are miles too big for his feet!
Cade's vocabulary is expanding, and he is now talking in sentences of 4 to 5 words...but he still talks "oh so softly", barely above a whisper. He quietly goes about, walking in my shoes!
One of Cade's favorite activities to do is to run and jump in your seat whenever you get up for something. He accompanies this action by saying "My chair!" and doing an evil laugh! Cade, you are a funny boy--and it's "MIMI'S CHAIR!"
