Six Word Saturday

It's Saturday again, the day that I participate in Six Word Saturday. I have just six words to use to describe my life--or something... It's quite challenging, but fun. After reading my six words, hop on over to Cate's place at http://www.showmyface.com/ and read some more memes. You might even want to try out your own six words.

My six words are: Maddie's mama arrived at Disneyworld...sick!

Yes, that's right! After months of planning to go to Walt Disneyworld, my daughter's whole family got sick the week before the trip. Everyone is feeling somewhat better, except my daughter, Brandy. She got sick the day before the trip! They loaded up in the car and went anyway! Brandy says she can be sick at Disneyworld as easily as she can be sick at home...I sure hope she's right! She must be doing okay, so far, because she just called to tell me that she'd just had her picture made with Chip and Dale--and was on her way to eat breakfast with Winnie the Pooh!

Don't forget, if you leave a comment you will be entered in the drawing for the Target Gift Card Giveaway...I'd love to send "Spot" to your house! I'm celebrating my upcoming 100th post...

Look Out Disneyworld, Here They Come!

This trip has been in the works for months...Weeks of planning and saving have finally paid off! Madison, along with her mama and daddy are headed to Walt Disneyworld in Florida for 5 whole days! Whew, 5 days of Disneyworld...that's a lot! They invited me and my husband to go along, but we had to decline that invitation. We've been there twice-- the last time was 29 years ago--I still remember those long lines...

It's hard to tell who is more excited, Madison or her mother! Brandy is a big Disney fan. She loves anything Disney related. Madison is pretty fond of all of the Disney characters, too--on movies or television. I can't wait to hear what she does when she actually sees one in person! She will probably be fine, as long as she's viewing from a distance...I don't expect to get a photograph of Madison standing with a character!

While my next door neighbors are on their way to the home of Mickey Mouse, MiMi is here pecking away on her computer, preparing her Friday Giveaway. I'm still looking for a home for "Spot" the 10 dollar Target Gift Card. All you have to do to be considered for a potential home for"Spot" is leave a comment. That's it! Everyone who leaves a comment will be entered in the drawing. I am doing this in celebration of my upcoming 100th post. If things go according to plan, I will be sending "Spot" to someone's home at the end of next week! So, just scroll down past McLinky and leave a comment. Good luck!

What Has Caden Been Up To???

I haven't seen my "little man" in almost a week! I spent some time with him last Thursday night, then started feeling bad on Saturday, so I've avoided contact with him. Although I still talk like a frog, he and his family are coming to eat supper with us this evening--and I can't wait!

Cade's daddy, my oldest son, made a deal with me that if I would cook supper, he'd come and reinstall my computer printers. I haven't been able to print anything since getting a new computer. I have three different printers--each has a different purpose, so it's a bit complicated. Hey, it works for me! I love a good deal!

I borrowed this picture from Cade's mother. I think it shows perfectly exactly what Cade has been up to lately! Cade's daddy says he's trying to pull up and climb on everything in sight. It looks like he figured out how to open his clothes drawer...wonder if he's figured out how to remove those clothes yet???

On Cade's last visit at my house, he had a great time crawling everywhere and exploring everything. He had no time for toys, he was more interested in the magazines under the coffee table, and the swinging door on the end table! That reminds me--I need to go and move those magazines...

Cade's mom took him for his 9 months well-baby visit yesterday and he weighs 18 and 1/2 pounds. He's doing great! A very happy, very healthy little boy, for which we are truly grateful! I am sure I will have new pictures and more things to post about Cade, after this evening's visit. Until then, thanks for stopping by...

May I Help You, Please... or...MiMi Was Victorious...

Madison was visiting at my house this morning. She hasn't been able to visit very much for the past week because she's been sick. She caught a nasty "viral thing" that started out with high fever, then later turned into the croup. Despite the fact that she hasn't been over to visit very much, she managed to share her "viral thing" with me! I have a much milder form of the same illness--I had two days of feeling bad, now I just sound like a frog when I talk!

Anyway, while Madison was here playing, we brought out the shopping cart and the grocery store and played "store". We do that from time to time. I've showed Madison how to scan the items and slide them off into the cart. She likes to do that! I also have another talking, scanning, weighing, vibrating(to move the items) grocery check out. She really enjoys making that machine work! She has it vibrating, scanning, and talking full speed!

I am so glad that Maddie enjoys these particular toys. I won them on eBay a long time ago, when she was still a baby. These toys have long been discontinued and are very hard to find. They are made very well, which is why I liked them. I love Little Tikes toys. I put up quite a "fight" to win the grocery store auction, as well as the shopping cart! If you've never "eBayed" before, you are missing an experience! Every time Maddie and I play "store" I can't help but remember the night I was "victorious" on eBay!(I can almost hear "Chariots of Fire" playing in the background)

Speaking of being victorious, I will be sending "Spot" the $10 Target Gift Card to a lucky person in just 7 more blogging days...just leave a comment to be entered in the giveaway. Good luck--may you, too, be victorious...

Tuesday Blog Hop--Why You Should Read My Blog...

I started this blog for my grandchildren. I was already keeping a journal for both of them, when I found out about blogging...So I thought, I'll just do a blog for them! I've had so much fun doing this blog! Both children are too young to appreciate these stories now, but give them a few years...they'll be reading and laughing all over the place!!!(they may want to strangle me, too) This blog is a regular account of activities that are taking place in the lives of my All- American, Freedom Lovin' grandchildren!

As for why you should read MY blog...I don't really know... but anytime that you deal with babies or children, it's bound to be entertaining! I've read blogs of others and learned a few things while I was being entertained, so perhaps you could learn something from my blog as well. I also LOVE to write!!! I'm dedicated to my blogs...just ask my family...

I have a mountain of experience with children, raised 3 of my own, helped teach 20 first graders per year for 15 years, was a nanny to twin baby girls for nearly 2 years, now I have 2 grandchildren of my own... with more to come, hopefully...Oh the tales I could tell from the past 30 years after dealing with so many children...

If the entertainment or educational aspect of my blog doesn't snare you into following...how about a weekend contest??? I've gotten into the habit of having a weekend contest/giveaway every week. I've been giving away cute little fall gift bags, but at this time, I am giving away a gift card to celebrate my upcoming 100th post! I love contests almost as much as I love writing!!!

So stop by, have a laugh, share your experiences, and maybe even win a prize to boot! If you leave a comment, I will automatically enter your name in my Target Gift Card Giveaway...the gift card is worth 10 dollars and it will be given away in 8 more days...Feel free to leave comments, as often as you would like. Comments please??? Scroll down past McLinky and leave one or maybe two...Good luck!

Not Me, Monday....Maddie does it again...

This blog carnival was begun by mckmama over at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/. When you've finished reading my post, you can head over to her site and read some more Monday adventures, if you like...
I just have to dedicate today's post to Maddie..again. She's at that age where every day brings a new challenge...and a new story to tell!

No, Madison and her family did not drive nearly 3 hours lastSunday to the beach and visit a homesick "MiMi". Madison did not arrive all full of energy and ready to play--while her parents arrived ready to take a nap!

No, Madison's daddy did not forget to bring his work boots on the brief overnight trip, from which he was driving 2 hours to work at 4:30 Monday morning...

No, the whole bunch of us did not head out to Wal-mart at 8:00 in the evening to find Maddie's daddy a pair of boots to wear to work the next day...

While shopping in Wal-mart, we did not take Maddie over to the bicycles to see what kind we could find...No, we did not find the perfect bicycle! It was not a Barbie bicycle, with a little pink bicycle on the handlebar for Barbie, a ringing bell, and long streamers on the handlebars...It did not have the cutest little purple flowers for bicycle pedals...We did not sit Madison on the seat of the bicycle and begin to smell an odor...Madison did not get so excited over the Barbie bicycle that she pooped in her big girl panties! We did not have to leave-- with Madison crying in protest!!!

Of course, the nearest bathroom was not closed for cleaning(aren't theyalways) so we did not head out to the van and stand around in the parking lot at Brandy cleaned Maddie up in the van under the cover of darkness...

We did not return to the condo at the beach where Maddie's mama dropped the soiled underwear into a load of clothes that MiMi was washing--apparently without inspecting them very close...When the load of clothes finished washing and drying, MiMi did not detect the smell of "poop" on the clothes! MiMi did not actually find "poop" in the clothes dryer!!!!! MiMi did not bring home a load of previously washed, poopy smelling clothes...to be washed again!

On, the way home from the beach trip, MiMi, E, Brandy, and Maddie did not stop at Burger King to eat lunch...Maddie did not ask to go out on the playground. Maddie did not get excited and again, poop in her big girl panties--a LOT! This time, Maddie's mama and MiMi were not both in the bathroom of Burger King cleaning and scrubbing. Maddie's mama did not have Madison standing in the sink while she washed the poop off with her hand, while MiMi had the soiled underwear dipping them in the public toilet trying to get the poop out of them!!! All three girls did not finally emerge from the ladies room, wipe their hands with a clorox wipe, and proceed to head for home--without making anymore stops!

Don't forget, if you leave a comment, you will be entered in my 10 dollar Target Gift Card Giveaway...Celebrating my upcoming 100th post...Drawing will be held in 9 more days...Good luck!
