Illness Strikes Twice...

On Saturday night, Madison woke up in the middle of the night with the croup. She's been sick ever since. I think she may have caught my husband's cold/bronchitis. She has a nasty cough just like he had, and her nose is runny. She acts like she feels lousy, just like my husband did.

The old dog, Hobbs, who is also in the picture has been sick all week, too. He's a collie mix that I rescued from the animal shelter 6 years ago. He was pretty old then, and they told me at the vet that he had heartworms. I adopted him anyway, and figured I'd give him a good home for as long as he lived. He's the sweetest, most loving dog that I've ever owned. There will never be another Hobbs...

Apparently, Hobbs is now in the final stages of heartworm disease. He's not eating much, has that nasty cough, and just lays around most of the day. I'm sad...yesterday I cried. It's sad that my loyal companion is getting ready to leave me, and there is nothing that I can do...

As for Madison, she has a doctor's appointment tomorrow. It would be nice if she got some medicine to help her feel better, but I won't hold my breath. Her pediatrician doesn't like to prescribe antibiotics for anything...Madison has never taken any antibiotics before--and she is 3 and 1/2...that's hard to believe, isn't it? According to Dr. P, everything is viral...I don't always agree, but I am just the grandma! LOL

Hi Becky, I hate it when the little ones are sick.If Maddie has Bronchitis, she may need some antibiotics and steroids to clear it up..It took me over a week to get better from my Bronchitis and I was treated with the above meds..with the tree pollen everywhere, Bronchitis is affecting many people..I hope she feels better soon..
Hugs, Baba
