Ride A Bike...No Thanks!

My husband and I bought this adorable little "Hello Kitty" bicycle for Madison on her birthday--6 whole months ago! She has yet to ride it! Whenever she does get on it, she tries to sit in the doll carrier on the back of the bike, instead of on the seat! Go figure...

I tied a rope on the front of the bike so I could pull her, because MiMi's back isn't what it used to be...No worries, Madison doesn't want to be pulled anyway!

Every time we get that bicycle out, it's the same scenario--and the same look on Maddie's face...The burning question is..."Will Madison ever ride this bicycle?" It's not looking very promising at the moment!

16 Months Old Yesterday...And No Paci

This picture was taken about a month ago, but I love it. Cade looks so "grown up" in his sweater and jeans. Notice, that hand putting that shape in the correct hole--while watching me with the camera...The boy's got brains...

I didn't think about it until today, but Cade turned 16 mos old yesterday! Where has the time gone? Of course, he's at the age now that he keeps us all entertained. Each new day brings more words to his vocabulary, and I do believe he grew an inch just last week!

He gave up his pacifier about a month ago, but in the process he's become a bit of a "night baby". He wakes up every night, and hasn't figured out how to comfort himself and go back to sleep. His parents are struggling with this--especially his mama, who does all of the getting up and down...It's hard to convince them that it will pass.

Oh, if they only knew...getting over this "hurdle" is just the first of many more that they will face in raising this beautiful child...but what a wonderful journey it is...I'm thankful that I get to "tag along"!

Strawberry Fields...Strawberry Festival

On Saturday, Madison's parents took her to a nearby Strawberry Festival. In addition to fields of fresh, juicy strawberries, there were all kinds of activities for young and old alike...


In this photograph you can see people in the field picking strawberries, while the festival is going on beside them. Look close and you will notice a row of white tents--the site of a Civil War re-enactment taking place...



Several activities were available, but Madison's favorite activity was probably the "cow train". It was a little train made from barrels that were decorated to look like cows. Neat idea!

Madison's favorite activity would have been the "bouncy house", but an unfortunate incident occured that put that activity low on her list...

While Maddie was bouncing in the "bouncy house" a large boom sounded...and the bouncy house immediately began to deflate--quickly! The generator had stopped working. Madison had the misfortune of being located near the door, which made her get trampled as scared children began bolting for the exit!

Brandy's mom was trying to hold the deflating house up--along with two other adults--to keep the children from being trapped inside. Meanwhile, Maddie's daddy sprang into action and rushed to Maddie's rescue, getting her out of the deflating house, but not before someone kicked her in the face! She brought home a black eye as a souvenir!

Madison didn't care for the pony rides either. She sat on it for just a second, then decided that she didn't want any part of that pony after all...I think she's just not going to be an animal lover.

I think that Madison's second favorite part of the Strawberry Festival was...the food. She told me that she had french fries, catsup, and corn dogs for lunch...along with fresh homemade strawberry ice cream! Ummm.... She's a lot like her MiMi!

Gifts Are Fun!

Who doesn't like to receive a gift every now and then? I know I sure do! I received this cute gift on Easter Sunday from my grandson, Caden. It was so pretty, that I almost hated to open it up....Maybe I'll share what was inside on another post....

Anyway, it's my turn to do the gift giving...I am giving away one of these cute little bubble buckets that I found while shopping the other day. What a neat idea! No more spilled bubbles. Who can resist Disney Princesses or Toy Story--not me! I love Buzz and Woody!

Two Kinds of Bunnies...

Madison refused to have her picture taken with the Easter Bunny at the mall...but she did agree to let this sweet little live bunny share the bench with her at her last photo session...

The bunny almost looks "fake" doesn't he?

This was the first time that she has agreed to let the live bunnies anywhere near her since she was a baby, so we were thrilled! Caden didn't have a problem at all with the Easter Bunny...he wasn't afraid of Santa at Christmas either...

I was thrilled to get photos of both of my "grand"children for Easter...and each was posing with an Easter Bunny. Funny how things work out, isn't it?

Favorite Photos Of My Favorite Little Ones...

I love this picture! Caden's got his Easter shirt on, his bucket in hand, and he's off to find some Easter eggs...

Isn't this the cutest little outfit? Caden looks like an old-fashioned "newsboy". I just loved the little cap! By the way..his whole family was color-coordinated on Easter.

I happened to have my camera in my purse on a recent shopping trip with Madison. I thought the bucket on her head was a nice fashion statement!

Caden loved my tub of eggs! We actually hid and found all of these eggs on Easter Sunday...Caden loved playing with those eggs more than finding them.

Madison was not in the mood to have her picture made after church. I snapped this photo of her quickly as she was on the way to change out of her dress. This was the first year that she asked for an Easter bonnet. She loved her hat!

Caden's Easter...Last Year

Caden went to church, then spent a good bit of the afternoon snoozing in MiMi's crib...which is the same crib that Caden's daddy used to snooze in.
I usually have my crib full of dolls...but on Easter, I had a "living doll" in it!


Caden woke up from his nap, and joined the family outside for an egg hunt, and some family photographs. Wow, he sure has changed!

After being outside for a while, Caden came inside and checked out the Easter basket that MiMi had made for him...It was a monkey basket that screeches when it's pressed...The basket was nearly as big as he was!

Checking out those plastic Easter eggs...They sure are pretty and colorful! As I was getting these photographs ready to post, I was noticing how much Caden has changed...it's hard to believe it's the same child! Have a Happy Easter, everyone! Thanks for stopping by...Kathy
