What's Up With This Face, Caden?

For the past two times that my favorite"little man" has come to visit his MiMi, this is the face that he's had. Usually he is smiling from ear to ear when I talk to him, but not lately. He's become somewhat "straight-faced". Not a smile, not a frown, just straight! No matter what I say to him he makes this face...which is really sort of funny!

Notice the little baby blue sailor suit that Caden is wearing...it's been a source of conflict between his mother and father! His daddy thinks it's too "gay" and his mama says it looks like a baby--and Caden is a baby! I tend to side with Cade's mama on this one....I told my son, Brett, that when he was a baby, he had a light blue sailor suit, too, and he just rolled his eyes. I guess this will be the last time we see this outfit on Caden, because it's just about too small...and Brett is glad!

Well, smile or no smile....sailor suit or nothing at all, I think my favorite "little man" is perfect just the way he is!

Oh, Be Careful...

Remember the little song from church called "Oh Be Careful"? You know the one...Oh, be careful little eyes what you see...and Oh be careful little ears what you hear... Well, that song is stuck in my head this week because of Madison. She's 2 years and 9 months old and soaking up her surroundings like a sponge! Almost daily, she does or says something that reflects her surroundings.

Brandy is an excellent mother and monitors the television very carefully. She's an expert on children's television. She's basically given up watching her shows until Madison is asleep. Ah, the wonder of dvr or whatever it is called now. Unfortunately, Brandy can only control what goes on inside of her house...

One day we noticed Madison playing with her Barbies and she was making them kiss. We couldn't help but wonder where in the world had she seen this??? Somebody's house that had soap operas playing? Who knows...

Some of her latest phrases have been "Don't you do it!" (her mother's), "Knock it off!" (don't know) and unfortunately, I guess I'll have to take credit for the latest new phrase..."tail hole".

We were riding in the car this week and Madison was playing with her Barbies and her Curious George monkey in the backseat. She was chattering away and I thought I heard something like, "go away you tail hole monkey!" I mentioned this to Brandy, we listened and sure enough Madison repeated it. It was then that Brandy informed me that I could take credit for the words "tail hole"! I didn't even realize I said that, but thinking back, I know I have. So now I have that little song stuck in my head..."Oh be careful little mouth what you say..." On the bright side, at least I don't say #sshole....

Madison, Corduroy, and Various Obsessions...

This is an actual picture of Corduroy the Bear playing on my television--while I am watching it with grandaughter, Madison...for what seems like the 50th time! One thing about Madison, she either obsesses over something or cares nothing about it! Hummm, I wonder who she gets that trait from...ahem, could it be me???
I bought her a whole set of dvd's of scholastic books and out of the whole set, Corduroy is her favorite. The little bear is an animated puppet and she is just captivated by him. She watches every detail from beginning to end as he wanders about the store in search for a button.
When she arrives at my house, you can bet within 5 to 10 minutes she will ask to "watch the bear." Oh my, I will be glad when we move on past Corduroy! One good thing about this obsession, it only lasts maybe 10 minutes. The last obsession was "The Lion King" and that one lasted almost 90 minutes! I sent it home with her! Thank heaven for short obsessions!

Tuesday's Blog Hop=Favorite Kid Pictures

I recently held a photo contest on Facebook. This photo of my grandaughter, Madison, had two winning captions. #1. Sweet Summertime! #2. When caught in the act, it is important to don a disguise. This one we call "in-CHOC-nito"!
The winning caption for this photo of my grandson, Caden was "How about a little cool whip with that Honey Bun"?

Pray For Stellan, Monday

Holding him close always. on TwitpicI had a blog post all ready for today, but in light of the situation with Stellan, I don't have the heart to post it.
Instead I will ask that anyone reading this post, please be in prayer for little Stellan McKinney and his family today. Stellan is in the hospital in critical condition and things are looking really bad. Where there is life, there is hope, so let's all pray...for a miracle for this sweet baby boy and his family, who have been through so much. Stellan's mother's website is http://www.mycharmingkids.net There are updates on his condition there. The last update that I heard was that they were going to airlift Stellan to Boston where his primary cardiologist is located. What happens after that, I don't know.

Cousins Go To The Movies

Caden's mother works partime at her sister's daycare. This week the daycare took a little "end of the summer" fieldtrip to the movies to see The VeggieTales. Christina graciously invited Madison and us along. Apparently, the little daycare children are big fans of VeggieTales!
I kept looking behind me in amazement at the row of little smiling faces happily munching their popcorn and watching their heros on the big screen. Even little Caden was enjoying himself sitting in his mother's lap. He loves Larry the Cucumber!
Madison sat on her mother's lap and watched the movie for a while, then she took her own seat for a while, but she wasn't in the mood for popcorn. She enjoyed the musical parts of the movie, but was more interested in the steps of the movie theater. She wanted to go and play on them during the movie...I guess she's just not a "die hard" VeggieTales fan. Whenever we ask her about her trip to the movies, she says she went to "The Big TV". Ah, children...gotta' love 'em!

Caden's New Tricks

Little Caden recently turned 7 months old. I can't believe how fast he's growing up. Each week brings new surprises. He's constantly learning new things. Last week I discovered that he could "pat-a-cake" with the soles of his feet. I don't ever remember seeing a baby do that before, but his mom says she has a nephew that also does that.

This week Caden has learned to clap his hands. He's so cute. When he hears you say "Yaaaa" he puts his hands together or when he hears "Pat-a-cake".

Every week I keep expecting a tooth to pop through, but none yet. He sure is working on it though. If drooling and nawing would pop them out, he'd have a mouthful!

Caden and family ate Sunday lunch with us. For the first time, he didn't seem interested in eating. What he did seem interested in was PLAYING, and that's just what he did--in the floor with all of his favorite toys!
